What is BRUTUS?
BRUTUS is a hair and beard color system for men. It uses a water-activated powder you mix yourself to blend greys or deliver full coverage. No salon visit, no overdone look. Just strong, natural-looking color, on your schedule.
What's the difference between BRUTUS Original and BRUTUS Naturals?
We make two lines.
BRUTUS Original — four shades (Light Brown, Medium Brown, Dark Brown, Natural Black). $17.99, up to 4 applications, 20 g / 0.705 oz. Fast and powerful: ten minutes blends, thirty covers. Best for medium to dark hair.
BRUTUS Naturals — three shades (Sandy Blonde, Copper Blonde, Light Ash Brown). $23.99, up to 6 applications, 30 g / 1.5 oz. 100% plant-based, only 8 ingredients, every one of them a plant. No synthetic dyes at all. Built for lighter and warmer hair, and it builds gradually over several applications rather than all at once.

What about sensitive skin and patch testing?
Everyone's skin is different, and hair and beard color can cause a reaction in some people. We strongly recommend a patch test 48 hours before your first application, on both lines. Plant-based does not mean risk-free. Apply a small amount of mixed product behind your ear or on your inner arm and wait 48 hours to check for any reaction. If you have reacted to hair dye before or have sensitive skin, talk to your doctor before use.
BRUTUS NATURALS — READ THIS FIRST
Why doesn't it cover much on the first try?
Because there are no synthetic dyes in it. Naturals deposits plant pigment in layers, so your first application will blend grey subtly rather than cover it. That's the product working correctly, not failing.
Build it up. Repeat the process until you reach the coverage you want — for most guys that's two or three applications close together. After that you're just doing maintenance as new growth comes in.
If you're expecting one-and-done coverage, buy BRUTUS Original instead.
How do I use Naturals?
1. MIX. Combine the powder with warm water and stir to a smooth, thick paste.
2. SATURATE. Get it on every strand, root to tip. Patchy coverage comes from patchy application, not from the product.
3. WAIT. At least 30 minutes. 45 minutes for stubborn or resistant hair.
4. RINSE. Rinse thoroughly.
5. SLEEP ON IT. The color takes several hours to finish depositing, with full results at 24 hours.
Why should I apply it in the evening?
Because you'll judge it too early otherwise. Naturals keeps developing for hours after you rinse. Apply at night, go to bed, and look at it in the morning — that's the honest result of that application. Don't reapply before then.
My Light Ash Brown looks slightly green. Is it ruined?
No. This is normal and it will resolve.
Light Ash Brown is indigo-forward, and indigo can throw a faint green cast in the first hours after rinsing while it oxidises. It settles into a cool ash brown as it finishes developing.

Will Naturals stain my skin?
Less than the Original line — there are no synthetic dyes in it. But it still can, so always use a barrier. Petroleum jelly along the hairline, ears and neck before you start, and wear gloves.
How long does Naturals last?
Because it builds in layers, it also fades in layers — gradually, with no hard grow-out line. Once you've built to the coverage you want, a single maintenance application as new growth appears is usually enough.
HOW TO USE — BRUTUS ORIGINAL
How do I use it?
It is a simple 4-step process:
1. MIX. Combine one 5 g packet with 20 g (approx 4 tsp) of warm water. Stir until smooth.
2. APPLY. Brush or rub the mixture onto clean, dry hair or beard. Target greys, roots, or apply all over. Use the included sponge for stubble-length hair.
3. RINSE. Rinse thoroughly, then shampoo and condition. Color begins to reveal its tone as it dries.
4. DEEPEN. Color will continue to develop naturally over 24 hours, leaving hair and beard looking fuller, richer, and naturally blended.
How long do I leave it on?
This applies to Original only. 10 minutes gives you a light grey blend. 20 minutes gives a deeper blend. 30 minutes or more delivers full coverage. Start with less time. You can always go longer next time.

Can I use BRUTUS on my beard?
Absolutely. Both lines are designed for hair and beard. Use the applicator brush for longer beards and the included sponge for stubble-length application. Coarse or resistant beard hair usually needs the longer end of the timing range even when your scalp doesn't.
Can I use it on eyebrows or eyelashes?
No. BRUTUS is for hair and beard only. Do not use on eyebrows, eyelashes, or any area near the eyes.
What comes in the kit?
Original: up to 4 applications of powder-based color (four 5 g packets), reusable gloves, an applicator brush, a sponge for stubble application and stain remover, and an instruction card.
Naturals: 30 g / 1.5 oz of powder (up to 6 applications), reusable gloves and an applicator brush.
CHOOSING YOUR COLOR
How do I pick the right shade?
We offer seven shades across two lines. Choose the shade closest to your natural hair color. If you are between two shades, go lighter. You can always build up or leave it on longer. You can't undo dark.
If you're blonde, ginger, or your brown pulls warm, start with Naturals — Sandy Blonde, Copper Blonde or Light Ash Brown. Original browns will go darker on light hair than you expect.

What if I pick the wrong color?
BRUTUS color gradually fades with washing over 2 to 4 months. If you picked a shade that is too dark, it will lighten naturally. If it is too light, try a longer application time, build another Naturals layer, or go one shade darker next time. Will it look natural?
Yes. BRUTUS works with your natural shade, not against it. No helmet head, no shoe polish effect. The color develops gradually over 24 hours, which means it settles into a very natural tone.
RESULTS AND LONGEVITY
How long does the color last?
Results typically last 2 to 4 months depending on how often you wash your hair and your hair type. The color fades gradually and naturally. No abrupt grow-out line.
When will I see the final color?
You will see initial results immediately after rinsing, but the color continues to develop and deepen over the next 24 hours. The tone you see the next day is the true result. This is especially true of Naturals, which needs several hours before it looks like anything final.
Will it stain my skin?
Minor staining can happen on the skin around your hairline or ears during application. Naturals stains less than Original, but use a barrier either way — petroleum jelly along the hairline, ears and neck. Wear the gloves. Any skin staining typically fades within a day or two.
INGREDIENTS AND SAFETY
What are the ingredients?
Ingredients vary by shade — the full INCI list is on every product page.
BRUTUS Naturals contains only 8 ingredients, and every one of them is a plant: neutral henna, henna, indigo, amla, fenugreek, madder, brahmi and chamomile. The proportions differ between shades, which is what makes each shade its own color.
We strongly recommend reviewing the ingredient list and doing a 48-hour patch test before use.
Is BRUTUS vegan and cruelty free?
Yes. Both lines are cruelty free and vegan. We do not test on animals and our formulas contain no animal-derived ingredients.
Does BRUTUS contain PPD?
No. Neither line contains PPD (p-Phenylenediamine) or ammonia. BRUTUS Naturals also contains no ethanolamine and no synthetic dyes.

How much does shipping cost?
Orders over $30 ship free within the continental United States. Orders under $30 ship for a flat rate of $5.50 via USPS.
How long does shipping take?
Most orders are processed within 1 to 2 business days and delivered within 3 to 7 business days. Orders placed before 2:00 PM EST on business days are typically processed the same day.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We ship to many countries worldwide. International shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on your location, package weight, and the carrier options available to you. We ship via USPS, DHL Express, FedEx, and DHL eCommerce depending on your destination. Duties and taxes are included in the price displayed at checkout for international orders, so there are no surprise fees on delivery.

Every BRUTUS order is covered by our 60-day money-back guarantee. If you are not happy with your color, email us at support@brutusgrooming.com within 60 days of delivery and we will refund you in full.
