BRUTUS Original — Light Brown, Medium Brown, Dark Brown, Natural Black. PPD-free, but not a plant-only formula. In place of PPD it uses TDS (toluene-2,5-diamine sulfate). Published research (Scheman et al., Dermatitis, 2011) found that most people who are allergic to PPD can tolerate TDS-based color. Some people can still be sensitive to TDS.

Light Ash Brown is a cool-toned brown with the warmth pulled out — no red, no orange, no brassy cast as it fades. The shade for guys whose grey pulls warm under everything else they've tried.
This one builds. There are no synthetic dyes in it, so the first application blends grey subtly rather than covering it. That's the product working, not failing. Repeat until you reach the coverage you want — usually two or three applications — then it's just maintenance as new growth comes in.
How to use it. Mix the powder with water to a thick paste. Fully saturate the hair, every strand, root to tip. Leave it on at least 30 minutes, or 45 minutes for stubborn or resistant hair. Rinse.
Do it in the evening — and don't panic at a green cast. Light Ash Brown is indigo-forward, and indigo can throw a faint green tint in the first hours after rinsing while it oxidises. It settles into a cool ash brown as it finishes developing. Rinse at night, sleep on it, and look in the morning. Full results at 24 hours.
